The Poultry Science Association Annual Meeting was held in New Orleans, Louisiana from July 11-14th, 2016. This was the first year that our lab was represented at the conference by student presenters. Tory Shynkaruk (MSc): "Effect of dark exposure duration and age on broiler feeding behavior" and "Effect of dark exposure duration on broiler production parameters and gut transit time". Tory was awarded the Student Research Paper Certificate of Excellence in the Animal Well-Being and Behavior section for her feeding behaviour presentation. Eugenia Herwig (PhD): "The rate and extent of starch digestion affects digestive tract morphology and ileal brake activation in broiler chickens" Eugenia also won a Student Research Paper Certificate of Excellence. Eugenia is pictured below on the right hand side. This was also an exciting year for Karen, who was presented the PSA Early Achievement Award for Teaching, which recognizes the achievements of PSA members in the early stages of their careers in poultry related teaching.
